Olga Abram 

Government Office of the Republic of Slovenia for Development and European Cohesion Policy – EUSAIR Facility Point

Olga Abram is a deputy Lead Project Manager of a strategic project of eight countries supporting the Macro-Regional cooperation in Adriatic - Ionian region. Her daily task is coordination among key stakeholders in the region which goal is to define common approaches to common societal challenges. Her previous work assignments referred to the implementation of the cross-border programmes and projects. She gained experiences also as a Management Officer in Joint Technical Secretariat of the Slovenia-Italy Cross-border Cooperation Programme 2007-2013 in Trieste (Italy).

Olga has graduated at the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), Faculty of Arts, Department for History and Department for Geography. During her completed masters’ study she focused on sustainable development of the Karst region in terms of cross-border cooperation.

Maruša Arh

Government Office of the Republic of Slovenia for Development and European Cohesion Policy – EUSAIR Facility Point

Maruša Arh is a Communication Manager at the EUSAIR Facility Point strategic project since December 2016. Her role involves developing, implementing and coordinating the various communications activities of the governance structures across the eight participating countries of the EUSAIR – EU Strategy for the Adriatic-Ionian Region (AL, BiH, CRO, MNE, ITA, GR, SRB, SI). She has completed her BA in European Studies at the University of Ljubljana and continued her studies in International relations-Diplomacy at Ghent University and University of Iceland. She is fluent in English.

Nejc Bobovnik

University of Ljubljana

Nejc Bobovnik earned a master's degree after graduating from the Department of Geography at the University of Ljubljana in 2016. For master thesis Sustainable Development Evaluation of the Alpine Municipalities in Slovenia, he received Faculty Prešeren Awards for Students. From 2015 to 2017 he worked at Department of Geography as GIS Analyst. In 2017 he started working as an Assistant. His main research interests are Geographic information systems, Sustainable development, Environmental protection and Regional geography of Slovenia

dr. Jarosław Działek 

Jagiellonian University, Krakow

Jarosław Działek, PhD, is a graduate in geography and sociology at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland. He is currently an assistant professor at the Institute of Geography and Spatial Management, Jagiellonian University. His research interests include a focus on the social dimensions of local and regional development. He is the author and co-author of a number of books and papers on the following topics: geography of artists and creativity, cultural heritage and social capital building, social capital resources in Poland, and disaster risk management (risk perception, social vulnerability). He took part in numerous research projects commissioned by local, regional and national authorities.

Ines Grenc

Government Office of the Republic of Slovenia for Development and European Cohesion Policy – EUSAIR Facility Point

Ines Grenc completed master's degree in political science and gained work experience at the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce, Office for Human Resources Management in the Ministry of the Interior, Diners Club SLO d.o.o., National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia. Her current work assignment at the Government Office for Development and European Cohesion (within the teams of EUSAIR Facility Point strategic project and Facility Point Plus action) is to provide support to the key implementers of EU Macro-regional Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region.

dr. Simon Kušar

University of Ljubljana

Simon Kušar, PhD, is an associate professor at the Department of Geography Faculty of Arts University of Ljubljana. His research focus is on strategic planning of green infrastructure, development of problem regions and study of the location of economic activities, especially of foreign direct investments. Currently he works as a head of the Chair of Regional Planning. He is also a coordinator of the Commission for Regional and Spatial Planning at the Association of Slovenian Geographers.

dr. Barbara Lampič

University of Ljubljana

Barbara Lampič is a researcher and responsible leader of a research programme group (Sustainable regional development of Slovenia] at the Department of Geography. Her research focus is sustainable spatial planning, land use changes, functional derelict areas, rural development issues, future orientations/developement of farms and framing systems in Slovenia, environmental impact assesments etc. She is a representative of Slovenia within EIONET (European Envirnomental Agency) – National Reference Centre for Land use and spatial planning.

dr. Staša Mesec

Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy – EUSAIR Facility Point

Staša Mesec  is a leader of a strategic project of eight countries supporting the macro regional cooperation in Adriatic – Ionian region. Her daily tasks is coordination among key stakeholders in the region which goal is to define common approaches to common societal challenges. Prior she was gaining experiences in the field of regional development and cross border cooperation.  

Staša has graduated in 2003 at the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Arts, Department for Geography, and post graduated in 2013 at University of Primorska, Faculty for Humanities, Department for Geography. She is a strong believer in the need for good regional development policies at national and transnational level.

dr. Monika Murzyn-Kupisz

Jagiellonian University, Krakow

Monika Murzyn-Kupisz is a professor at the Institute of Geography and Spatial Management, Jagiellonian University. She holds a doctorate and a post-doctoral habilitation in economic sciences from Krakow University of Economics and an MA in European Leisure Studies (a joint diploma of Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Tilburg University, Universidad de Deusto in Bilbao and Loughborough University). She specialises in multidisciplinary research within the broad field of cultural economics, socio-economic geography and urban studies, with a special focus on heritage, heritage institutions, cultural and creative activities and artists as well as urban regeneration processes, in particular their analysis in the context of Central and Eastern Europe. She is a member of the Polish National Committee of ICOMOS. She has been a consultant for a number of organisations including OECD, the National Heritage Board of Poland, the National Institute for Museums and Public Collections, Hungarian Gyula Forster National Centre for Cultural Heritage Management and the French Agence National de l’Habitat.

dr. Rahman Nurković

University of Sarajevo

Rahman Nurković is a full professor at Department of Geography, Faculty of Science, University of Sarajevo.He holds several courses on first end second cycle of study. Amonge others he lectures Conception and Metodology in Regional and Spatial Planning, Urban and Rural Geography, General Economic Geography, Methodology of identification and valorisation of socio-geographic factors for development of tourism, Planning Documents, Spatial plans of administrative units of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He is editor in chief of scientific journal "Geografski pregled" since 2014 and coordinator for CEEPUS GEOREGNET network at Department of Geography, Faculty of Science, University of Sarajevo.

dr. Irma Potočnik Slavič

University of Ljubljana

Dr. Irma Potočnik Slavič enjoys working as an associate professor of Geography of Rural Areas, Developmental Inequalities in Rural Areas, Endogenous Rural Development and Geography of Slovenia (at the Department of Geography, Faculty of Arts, Ljubljana, Slovenia). Continuously on the fieldwork in rural areas, working closely with heterogeneous social groups and initiatives.

Research focus on on-farm diversification, future orientations of farms in Slovenia, impacts of globalization on rural areas, rural ageing etc.

Interested in tangible and intangible rural resources. The most pleasant compliment from my students:” … out-of-the-box thinking…”.

dr. Pavel Ptáček

Mendel University, Brno

Pavel Ptáček, Ph.D. is an assistant professor at the Department of Social Studies, Faculty of Regional Development and International Studies, Mendel Univerzity in Brno, Czech republic. He teaches courses in demography. His current research is focused on selected topics in economic geography and in regional development, especially on the role of innovations in regional development. He collaborated on the whole range of projects focused on regional development issues, among other also focused on methodological questions of brownfields regeneration in different regions of the Czech republic (in collaboration with Department of City engineering, Technical Univerzity in Ostrava), or on the topic of Smart Cities in the Czech republic. He tightly collaborates with regional development institutions in Brno and South Moravian region. He currently works as coordinator of GEOREGNET CEEPUS network.

dr. Dejan Rebernik

University of Ljubljana

Dejan Rebernik is a professor at Department of Geography at Faculty of Arts University of Ljubljana. His scientific and research work is orientated on internal structure, development and transformation of urban areas. His research focus is sustainable urban development, urban social geography, suburbanisation and urban sprawl and economic transformation of cities. He teaches Human Geography, Urban Geography and Geography of Europe. He is a member of the Senate of Faculty of Arts.

dr. Jiří Schneider

Mendel University, Brno

Jiří Schneider, Ph.D. is a Dean of the Faculty of Regional Development and International Studies, Mendel University in Brno. He is also Assisstant Professor at the Deaprtment of Environmnetalistics and Natural Resources. His research is focused on ecosytem services and disservices, nature protection, sustainable tourism, landscape management and spatial planning, not only in the Czech Republic, but also in developing countries (Nicaragua, Peru, Philippines, Ghana etc.). He has also long term practical experiences with management of nature protected areas (incl. NATURA 2000 sites) or EIA process. He is an enthusiastic photographer, using photography as an important tool for popularizing scientific knowledge nad results.

dr. Katja Vintar Mally

University of Ljubljana

Katja Vintar Mally, PhD, is Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana, and Head of the Chair for Environmental protection at the Department of Geography. She lectures Environmental Geography, Geography of Sustainable Development, Urban Ecology and Geography of Environmental Resources as well as regional geography (Geography of North Africa and Southwest Asia, Geography of Sub-Saharan Africa). Her personal research focus and interests encompass sustainable development, sustainable development indicators, sustainable use of environmental resources, environmental protection, regional development, etc. Apart from her research and pedagogical work at the university, she is also Steering Committee member of the International Geographical Union's Commission "Global Understanding", and actively involved in the work of several geographical societies.

dr. Tajan Trobec

University of Ljubljana

Tajan Trobec, PhD, works as an assistant professor at the Department of Geography, Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana. He teaches or carries out the tutorials in several subjects, namely: Physical geography 2, Hydrogeography, Soil- and Biogeography, Geoinformatics 2, Geoinformation decision support, and Geoinformation models, simulations and scenarios. His main research fields are hydrology, natural disasters (especially floods) and geographic information systems. He is an active member of Commission for Hydrogeography at the Association of Slovenian Geographers.

dr. Jernej Zupančič

University of Ljubljana

Jernej Zupančičborn in 1963 in Ljubljana, studied geography and history at the University of Ljubljana. Later he focused on social and political geography; dissertation in 1997 (Slovenes in Austria). Started his academic career as a full researcher at the Institute of Geography (1989-2001; 1998-2001 director of Institute), then at the Institute for Ethnic Studies (2002-2008) and since 2002 employed as university professor at the Department of Geography, Faculty of Arts of the University of Ljubljana. He teaches political, cultural and social geography, Geography of the Balkans and Russia, and the theory of geography, while his research fields are the ethnic questions, minorities, national relations, geopolitics, crisis areas and regional development. He was a visiting professor at the University of Klagenfurt (2002), the University of Gdansk (2016) and the University of Lodz (2018).
