OBJECTIVE:
The goal of the Individual Fellowships is to enhance the creative and innovative potential of experienced researchers, wishing to diversify their individual competence in terms of skill acquisition through advanced training, international and intersectoral mobility.
Individual Fellowships provide opportunities to researchers of any nationality to acquire and transfer new knowledge and to work on research and innovation in Europe (EU Member States and Horizon 2020 Associated Countries) and beyond. The scheme particularly supports the return and (re)integration of European researchers from outside Europe and those who have previously worked here, as well as researchers displaced by conflict outside the EU and Horizon 2020 Associated Countries. It also promotes the career restart of individual researchers who show great potential.
ELIGIBLE RESEARCHER – eligibility conditions for researchers in standard EFs:
-
The researcher must be an experienced researcher (see Definitions). Periods of inactivity in research (e.g. unemployment, periods of employment outside research, parental or long-term sick leave) do not count towards the time of research experience.
- The researcher may be of any nationality. No age restrictions apply.
- The researcher must move or have moved from any country to the MS or AC where the beneficiary is located. The researcher must comply with the mobility rule as described under Definitions.
TYPES AND DURATION:
- European Fellowships (ST, CAR, RI, and SE) – between 12 and 24 months.
- Global Fellowships – Global Fellowships are composed of an outgoing phase during which the researcher spends 1 to 2 years on secondment to a partner organisation in a Third Country, plus a mandatory 12-month return period to a host organisation (the beneficiary) located in a Member State or Associated Country.
SECONDMENTS:
During the implementation of the IF the experienced researcher may be seconded to an additional partner organisation, but only in Europe (MS or AC). Such secondments must significantly contribute to the impact of the fellowship.
