Department of Archaeology – A short Guide for Prospective and Incoming Erasmus Students

Dear student,

At the Department of Archaeology in Ljubljana all lectures are held in Slovenian but foreign students are nevertheless very welcome!

Upon your arrival you are encouraged to contact teachers of your chosen subjects and prepare your individual work plan, consultations and mode of examination so the language is not really an obstacle.

Here you can find our BA and MA curricula. Please note that methodological subjects Archaeological Methodology 1, Archaeological Methodology 2 (BA) and Fieldwork (MA) include 12 days of fieldwork (survey, excavations) which usually takes place in the summer months (July, August).

Here is a link to a very useful University page for all incoming students where you can find the application procedure, deadlines, forms and other important information:

https://www.uni-lj.si/international_cooperation_and_exchange/

http://www.ff.uni-lj.si/an/internationalOffice/forms

And here is a link to the International Relations Office at the Faculty of Arts who will help you with most things concerning your Erasmus stay in Ljubljana:

http://www.ff.uni-lj.si/an/internationalOffice/international_office

Before you complete your Learning Agreement you can contact the departmental Erasmus coordinator (contact details below) and get some help with the choice of subjects etc. so there will be as few complications as possible with your application.

Before you leave Ljubljana you will need your Transcript of records which you will get at the International Relations Office at the Faculty of Arts. After you have finished all your exams you can write them an email and receive theTranscript of records in about 2 days in their office.

If you leave before all the professors have entered all the grades into the Student Information System, send the International Relations Office an e-mail once you can see all your grades in the System and they will send you theTranscript to the address you give in the e-email.

The International Relations Office cannot know when you have had your last exam so it is really important to inform them in order to get your Transcript!
